'Away in a manger'는 서양에서 늘 아이들이 배우게 되는
첫번째 캐롤이다 'Away in a Manger'는  원래 1885년에
출판되었다  실제 마르틴 루터 자신에 의해 쓰여졌다고
잘못 알려졌으나 작자는 미상이다,
'Away in a Manger' 이 곡은 1895년에  William J. Kirkpatrick
에 의해 작곡되었다 
우리나라에는 가톨릭에서 사용하는 가톨릭성가 106번에
곡이 수록되어 있다.
